If you’ve never seen Pete Waterman’s outstanding O gauge layout of Leamington Spa then check out this video. The video has been produced for display at the forthcoming Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK. The exhibition at the NEC is so large that not only are there over 90 layouts but there will be four full-size locomotives. The event is a must for any keen model railway enthusiast.
But back to Pete Waterman’s layout. Pete’s team have built an incredible layout detailing Leamington Spa railway station and surrounding area from the 1950s. The video has some great ‘on-board’ footage from the layout. If you are looking for some British O gauge models then check out Pete’s website – Just Like The Real Thing.
A great video from the 2016 Folkstone model railway exhibition. The first layout on display is Konigshafen, a Continental N scale layout by the local model railway club. The next layout is Peak Quarry, loosely based on the Peak Forest and Doves Holes Quarry area of the Peak District. Various diesel locomotives are on display in this layout, including class 56s and double-heading class 20s or ‘Choppers’ as the real locomotives were nicknamed. Peak Quarry is owned by the Isle of Thanet Railway Society. The Purgatory Peak layout follows, created by the Macclesfield Model Railway Group. Unusual to find a UK model railway club modelling the South Western USA from the 1930s and 1940s! And finally we have a German HO layout, Jynnontonix, from the Nailsea and District Model Railway Club.
